of comic books in the north central Florida area. I have spent the last 35 years accumulating
my present inventory of well over 100,000 issues, representing comics from all genres in the
comic universe and all eras from the 1960s to the present, including a nice selection of silver
and bronze age books.
In addition to back issue comics, I also offer new comics and graphic novels, and a subscription
service with discount prices on new items. I also carry comic supplies and other comic-related
items such as toys, statues, and games. (I carry Heroclix and Magic:the Gathering, but am by
no means a full-line gaming store).
Hoyt's Cosmos of Comics is located at
501 N.W. 23rd Avenue
Gainesville, Florida,
(just east of Ward's Supermarket in the Azalea Center.)
Hours of operation are limited,
and are as follows:
Wednesdays* and Fridays: 3:30 to 7:00 p.m.
Saturdays: 12:00 noon to 4:00 p.m.
(* -- This is the day of the week when new comics are usually released. Some weeks, usually weeks with a holiday
on Monday, new comics arrive on Thursday, and during such weeks, I am open on Thursday instead of Wednesday)
I apologize for any inconvenience these limited hours may
cause, but I sincerely believe that serious comic book fans will
find a visit to be worth the effort. If you absolutely can't make
it to the store during regular hours, contact me (see subpage on
this site) and we can make an appointment to meet there at
some other mutually convenient time. I wish I could afford to
quit my "real job" and operate the store full time, but I can't.
And after operating a full-time store as an "absentee owner"
(under the name Gator Country Cards & Comics) for a long time,
I've decided I prefer this more "hands-on" approach of running
the store myself on a part time basis.
